Anhui University of Engineering Thesis Format Guide

Font and Spacing Rules: Don't Get Dinged Here

Fonts are straightforward. Titles (chapter heads) in Songti bold, size 16, centered. Section headers (1.1, 2.1 style) Songti regular size 15. Subsections size 14 down to size 12.

Body text SimSun size 5 (that's small five, tiny characters). Single-spaced, 1.5 line spacing, justified margins. Paragraphs indent first line 2 characters.

Footnotes at page bottom, same font but size 4. Captions for figures/tables SimHei size 5, numbered like Figure 3-1 Process Flow Diagram.

Leave exactly 3.5 cm top/bottom margins, 2.5 cm left/right. No headers on title page. Full stops.

Citation Style: GB/T 7714, Not APA

Use numeric style [1] [2] superscript in text, matching reference list at end. No author-year.

Pages, Headers, and Fancy Stuff

Page numbers bottom center, Songti size 4, start from abstract as -i-, main text as 1. No numbers on title/cover.

No headers/footers on title, abstract, contents pages.

Figures, Tables, Equations: Label Everything

Watch Out for These Common Screw-Ups

Pages way off: Recalculate TOC after formatting. Font mess: Full-width numbers, no Arial/Calibri. Widows: No single lines top/bottom pages.

Reference chaos: No website homepages or your own class notes. Cut-and-paste plagiarism: Same phrases = auto-fail, even if cited.

Sloppy tables: No vertical lines, merged cells only for headers. I forgot my student number: On cover and title page.

Supervisor said no: Format perfect but content trash = still fail.
